He was working as a deck boy on the SS Iveagh in October 1918 when the photograph was taken so would be aged around 16. In January 1923, James Melia, aged 20, was executed by a Free State firing squad in Dundalk during the Irish Civil War. It is believed that this was the same man. view his record on the database |
