Believed executed by Free State firing squad, Jan 1923

According to his CR10 card, James Melia was born on 29 September 1902 in Dundalk, Co Louth. He was working as a deck boy on the SS Iveagh in October 1918 when the photograph was taken so would be aged around 16.

In January 1923, James Melia, aged 20, was executed by a Free State firing squad in Dundalk during the Irish Civil War. It is believed that this was the same man.
